2D1N Climbing Adventure: Hanoi – Deep Water Solo – Island Climbing – Hanoi

Day 1: Hanoi – Cat Ba – Deep Water Solo

Morning: Pick-up from Hanoi by bus and transfer to Cat Ba Island.

Midday: Arrival in Cat Ba, check-in to your hotel (1 night). Lunch on your own before getting ready for climbing.

Afternoon: Board a boat to Lan Ha Bay for an exciting DWS trip – climbing straight from the boat onto limestone cliffs and splashing down into the sea.

  • 12:30: Please be in the office to try on climbing shoes.
  • We’ll then transfer by car to the harbor, where your boat will be waiting.
  • As we cruise toward the first climbing site—Sea Face—our guides will brief you on jumping and landing techniques for a safe and fun experience.

Climbing Experience

  • Your session begins with a warm-up climb: a 5-meter wall rated at 4a, designed to help you get used to the feeling of jumping and to fine-tune your landing.

  • From there, based on your strength and confidence, our experienced guides will recommend suitable routes for you to try next.

  • The Sea Face wall features around 15 routes, ranging in difficulty from 4a to 7a, with most falling between 5a and 6b.

  • For those who prefer to stay closer to the water, there are also traverse routes with lower jumping points.

  • At every step, our guides will introduce each climb by name, grade, and key movements, ensuring you're fully prepared to enjoy the climb—and the leap!

Next Challenge: The Three Brothers Wall

  • After conquering Sea Face, the adventure continues as we cruise to our second climbing spot — Three Brothers. This wall is more challenging and suited for climbers looking to push their limits. It features around 18 routes, graded from 5b to 7c+, offering a wide variety of lines for those seeking technical climbs, power moves, and higher jumps.
  • Whether you're working on endurance, technique, or simply looking for that adrenaline rush, Three Brothers delivers the perfect combination of challenge and stunning scenery.

Wrap-Up & Relaxation

  • After an exhilarating climbing session, you'll have 10–15 minutes to unwind — take a refreshing swim, enjoy a cold beer, and soak in the beauty of Lan Ha Bay. It's the perfect way to celebrate your climbs and cool off before we cruise back to the harbor.

Evening: Return to Cat Ba town, free time to relax, explore the island, or enjoy local seafood. Overnight in Cat Ba.

Day 2: Sport Climbing on Cat Ba Island – Return to Hanoi

7:30am: You need to be at the office to try on climbing shoes and equipment.

8:00am: The bus will pick us up at the office and move to the climbing point (takes about 10-20 minutes to travel).

8:20am: Our professional guides will set up the top rope, support you while you're climbing, and clean up the climb afterward.

Start climbing while the guides belay and instruct you from below.

  • Based on each one’s climbing experience and strength, the guides will recommend you the routes you should try. There is no time limit in climbing – this is the first step to introduce you to climbing technique, challenge and defeat your own fear. Our guides will be your coaches and supporters to help you complete the climbing routes. During the trip, the guides will give you a course about tying the figure 8-knots, communicating in technical terms, and you’ll learn the names of different movements on the wall. A quick introduction about the climbing devices will help you understand the importance of safety in climbing.
  • CLIMBING at Fisher Valley: Fisher Valley offers great and varied climbing on excellent rock. The cliff's height lends itself to long routes and some pitches exceed 35 meters. The view alone from the anchors of the second pitches are well worth the effort. Ensure your rope is long enough and tie a knot at the end of the rope!
Routes 16 through 21 are extensions. Route lengths note total length from the ground. These routes require extended quick draws. For routes 16, 17, 19 and 20, assuming a 70-meter rope: You will need to lower your climber from the intermediate anchor at the belay ledge respective to the climb, or do a multiple rappel from the top.
  • CLIMBING at Buddha cave: Cat Ba Island's newest crag is an imposing cave overlooking Cat Ba Town. It can be reached in a few minutes, is completely sheltered from the rain, and has a small but varied selection of climbs. A great option for a hot or rainy day!
  • Buddha Cave's roof is mostly flat and featureless and consequently most climbs end at the beginning of the roof; they are rather short and vertical. Nonetheless, there are a few interesting lines on tufas worth climbing. Buddha Cave is southwest- oriented and remains mostly in the shade all day. Only the climbs' lower sections get early afternoon sun exposure. The tufas may need a few days to dry after heavy rain.

12:30pm: Return to the office and end the trip.

  • Return to our office where you can rest, shower (if you’d like), and have lunch on your own.
