Climbing: Hidden Valley's limestone is pockmarked and very featured with loads of pockets, mini scoops, ledges, and tufas. Easier climbs toward the right are great fun and offer loads of cool holds on generally vertical rock. The Lower Roof area offers routes with overhanging cruxes requiring strength and determination. There is also a small bouldering cave.
Hidden Valley faces northwest and never receives sun. The base is additionally shaded by nearby vegetation. Since the central part of the crag is sheltered at the top by an overhang, climbing remains possible during light rain. Climbing in the summer can be challenging due to damp atmosphere and swarming mosquitoes. October through April are better.
Older, routes are equipped with expansion bolds, newer routes with glue-ins.
Getting there: Hidden Valley is located just north of Cat Ba town and two kilometers from the Harbor arch. The approach takes about 25 minutes. If you have a motorbike you can drive part of the way before walking 15 minutes past the last few houses ( house 45) on the left, just before the walking path begins. Show the owners your access pass before proceeding up the hill.
