Adventure Your Way – Private Cat Ba Tour for Climbers & Explorers

(3 Days 2 Nights)

Day 1: Pick up in Hà Nội - Top rope/lead climbing on Moody beach - Kayak at night to see plankton.
- Private Car Pickup: Your day begins with a private car picking you up from Hanoi (please message us if you prefer another pickup location). Sit back and relax as we take you to Cát Bà Island.

- Lunch on the Boat: Upon arrival in Cát Bà, you’ll board our boat and enjoy a fresh, local-style lunch while cruising through the scenic waters of Lan Ha Bay.
- Around 12:30 PM, the boat will drop anchor near Moody Beach (or Tiger Beach, depending on weather and conditions), where your climbing adventure begins. Our professional guides will set up top rope and lead routes, ensuring everything is safe and ready.

Start climbing while the guides belay and instruct you from below.

  • Based on each one’s climbing experience and strength, the guides will recommend you the routes you should try. There is no time limit in climbing – this is the first step to introduce you to climbing technique, challenge and defeat your own fear. Our guides will be your coaches and supporters to help you complete the climbing routes. During the trip, the guides will give you a course about tying the figure 8-knots, communicating in technical terms, and you’ll learn the names of different movements on the wall. A quick introduction about the climbing devices will help you understand the importance of safety in climbing.
  • The reward for every climb is the wonderful view of Lan Ha Bay from the top of the route. The guides will lower you down, then you can relax on the beach or swimming in the refreshing water.
  • Our rock climbing trip will take place on Moody Beach, Lan Ha Bay. This beach is a great crag for beginning and intermediate climbers, with 6 routes graded from 4c to 6b. Aside from one overhanging climb, routes are all vertical. Rock quality is very good, with numerous good holds and ledges to rest.

- Evening: Check-in & Night Kayaking with Bioluminescent Plankton

  • After the climbing session, you'll head to either a floating house or a boat to check in and unwind. (Please note: The price varies depending on whether you choose to stay overnight on the boat or in the floating house.)
  • A freshly prepared dinner awaits you on board — enjoy a delicious local meal as the sun sets over the bay.

-Later in the evening, prepare for a truly unforgettable experience: Night Kayaking to See Bioluminescent Plankton.

Our guide will take out the kayak and lead you into the calm, quiet waters of Lan Ha Bay. In the darkness, you'll paddle into hidden coves and peaceful inlets where the water sparkles with plankton bioluminescence — tiny organisms that glow when disturbed, lighting up the water with every stroke.

Want a closer look? Feel free to take a refreshing swim and watch your body shimmer and sparkle under the water — a surreal moment that feels like swimming through stardust.

This peaceful, otherworldly adventure is the perfect way to end your first day in Cat Ba.

Day 2: Deep water solo - Kayaking - visit Việt Hải village

  • Morning Wake-Up & Breakfast
Start your day with a peaceful breakfast on the floating house or boat, surrounded by the calm beauty of Lan Ha Bay.

  • Deep Water Soloing (DWS) – ~2 hours
After breakfast, we begin the day’s main adventure: Deep Water Soloing. The boat will cruise toward the iconic climbing wall known as Sea Face, where the real fun begins.

Our experienced guides will brief you on the essential jumping and landing techniques to ensure both safety and enjoyment. Before each route, they will introduce the climb’s name, difficulty grade, and give tips for tackling any tricky movements. You’ll start with an easy warm-up (around 4a, ~5 meters high) to get familiar with the feeling of falling into water safely.

Depending on your strength and comfort, we’ll suggest routes that suit you best.
Sea Face offers around 15 routes, mostly graded from 5a to 6b, with a few easier (4a) and some challenging climbs up to 7a.
Prefer to stay lower? We also have traverse routes that let you climb across rather than up, with minimal jumping.

Note: If you want to focus on climbing only, we can adjust the itinerary and extend your DWS time instead of kayaking.

  • Kayaking through Hidden Lagoons – ~1.5 hours

After the climb, relax and paddle through quiet inlets and lagoons with our provided kayaks. Glide across emerald waters, soak in the peaceful scenery, and enjoy the silence of nature.

  • Lunch in Viet Hai Village

Around noon, the boat will head to Viet Hai Village, a charming traditional village nestled in the heart of Cat Ba National Park. Enjoy a delicious Vietnamese lunch prepared with local ingredients.

  • Explore Viet Hai by Bicycle
After lunch, take a bike ride around the village, passing through lush jungle trails and rice fields. You’ll also have the chance to try the unique fish massage — let small fish gently nibble your feet as you relax after a full day of activity.

  • Return & Hotel Check-in

In the afternoon, the boat will take you back to the harbor. From there, we’ll transfer you to your hotel for check-in and a well-deserved rest.

Day 3: Rock Climbing on the Main Island - Fisher Valley or Buddha cave.

  • Morning Start
After breakfast at your hotel, head to our office to pick up your climbing equipment and meet your guide team.

  • 8:00 AMTransfer to the Crag
A car will pick you up from the office and take you to the climbing site — Fisher Valley, one of the best sport climbing spots on Cát Bà Island. The drive takes approximately 15–20 minutes.

  • 8:20 AMClimbing Begins
Our experienced guides will set up top rope and/or lead climbing routes and provide full technical support throughout your climbing session. They'll also clean the anchors and gear after each climb.

  • Start your session with a personalized coaching approach:
Whether you're a first-timer or a seasoned climber, our guides will assess your skill level and recommend suitable routes for you to try. There’s no time pressure — focus on learning, enjoying, and challenging yourself.

    During your climb, you will:

  • Practice Figure-8 knot tying

  • Learn basic technical climbing terms

  • Understand movement techniques and route reading

  • Be introduced to safety systems and climbing equipment

  • Our guides are both instructors and motivators, helping you overcome your fear, improve your technique, and enjoy the vertical journey.

  • CLIMBING at Fisher Valley: Fisher Valley offers great and varied climbing on excellent rock. The cliff's height lends itself to long routes and some pitches exceed 35 meters. The view alone from the anchors of the second pitches are well worth the effort. Ensure your rope is long enough and tie a knot at the end of the rope!
Routes 16 through 21 are extensions. Route lengths note total length from the ground. These routes require extended quick draws. For routes 16, 17, 19 and 20, assuming a 70-meter rope: You will need to lower your climber from the intermediate anchor at the belay ledge respective to the climb, or do a multiple rappel from the top.
  • Cat Ba Island's newest crag is an imposing cave overlooking Cat Ba Town. It can be reached in a few minutes, is completely sheltered from the rain, and has a small but varied selection of climbs. A great option for a hot or rainy day!
  • CLIMBING at Buddha cave: Buddha Cave's roof is mostly flat and featureless and consequently most climbs end at the beginning of the roof; they are rather short and vertical. Nonetheless, there are a few interesting lines on tufas worth climbing. Buddha Cave is southwest- oriented and remains mostly in the shade all day. Only the climbs' lower sections get early afternoon sun exposure. The tufas may need a few days to dry after heavy rain.

12:30 PM – Return & Departure
After a fulfilling morning of climbing at Fisher Valley or Buddha Cave, you'll return to our office around 12:30 PM, marking the end of your 3-day climbing adventure.
You’ll have time to enjoy lunch on your own at a nearby restaurant or café. Once you're ready, our private taxi will pick you up at the office and take you back to Hanoi.

Note:If you’d like to extend your stay on Cát Bà Island or need help arranging transportation to another destination, feel free to let us know — we're happy to assist!
